At LUSH Skin & Body Clinic we only perform micro skin needling using the Dermapen to ensure a safer and more effective way of penetrating the skin. Dermapen is highly recommended compared to traditional needling rollers, because of its remarkable vertical needling technology it has an incredible effect on elastin rejuvenation and collagen.
The Dermapen has adjustable needle depths and multi-speed functionality enabling the needles to pierce the layer of the skin at 90 degrees. Dermapen can effectively treat those areas that are hard to reach such as, nose, lips, and the around the eye area. The needles can simply penetrate scar tissue without difficulty due to the vertical delivery.
Dermapen is promoting treatments such as natural collagen reproduction and scar-less healing. These treatments are similar to IPL, fractional laser treatments, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing, but Dermapen’s treatment does not give any of the side effects and downtime common to those procedures. The Dermapen device delivers up to 1,300 micro punctures per second into the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin and normalizing various skin functions.
What can Dermapen Micro Skin Needling treat?
Dermapen treatments remain the number 1 procedure to induce new collagen production. Fine lines, wrinkles, sagging contours and tired looking skin are visibly plumped and rejuvenated. Pen needling also provides the most effective treatment for all types of scar tissue including acne, pock marks, hypertrophic and ice pick. Damaged tissue is replaced with fresh collagen deposition to reduce the appearance of indentations and uneven skin texture. Needling also provides an effective solution for hyper pigmentation and age spots, especially for darker tones. The pen-sized wand allows for efficient treatment of the entire facial and neck area. The under-eyes, corners of the nose, brow bone, upper-lip and under the chin are effortlessly reached.
A consultation will be the first step in the treatment, some questions regarding yourself and the treatment are asked and discussed. This consultation will determine and assess the best-suited treatment for each individual. Our Skin Therapists will assess whether Dermapen will suit your specific skin problems including acne scar reduction and anti-ageing skin rejuvenation. Dermapen is extremely safe and effective in treating fine lines, wrinkles, texture, scars and acne scars with each individual treatment usually taking around an hour.
How Many Treatments will I need? (General guide)
Every person’s skin is unique so the number of treatments you may need will vary depending on what condition(s) you want treated with micro needling. The following are some general guidelines only.
Rejuvenation: 4-6 treatments, 4 weeks apart
Acne scarring: 6 treatments, 6 weeks apart
Stretch marks: 4-8 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart
Should I prepare my skin before having a Dermapen™ Treatment?
For optimal results, a period of effective active treatment creams, such as Vitamin A, C or Resveratrol is recommended to allow the skin’s strength to build-up (especially for thin or delicate skin areas). Consult your therapist about the recommended Pre- and Post- procedure protocol.
How long should it take before I see results?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments and when combined with the recommended post treatment care.
Is the treatment painful?
For minimum needle depths Dermapen™ treatments are painless. Treatments over 0.5mm deep are a bit more intense but manageable. The good news is, with the newest technology of the Dermapen, topical anaesthetic is no longer required making this a much safer procedure.
Is there any downtime after treatments?
Generally, no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable camouflage will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
How soon after filler injections can I have a Dermapen™ Treatment?
It is recommended to wait at least 7 days after filler injections, so that any post treatment bruising from the fillers can settle. It is also possible to have your Dermapen™ Treatment several days before having fillers injected. Consult with your practitioner prior to determine exactly how long a wait is best in each case.
